In celebration of its thirty-fifth anniversary, the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) unraveled the first part of the RISE: Road to Innovative Science and Technology (S&T) Engagements on 31 January 2022.

The two-part anniversary in January and March exposes the accomplishments and milestones of the Institute as the very foundation of its created roadmap from 2023 to 2030 and beyond.

DOST-TAPI Director, Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, gives her message during the first part of Unraveling the RISE of DOST-TAPI on 31 January 2022

“We initially planned our celebration to be big and grand katulad noong 2019 at the Philippine International Convention Center as this is yet another milestone for DOST-TAPI to celebrate three and a half decades of undying service to the public,” said DOST-TAPI Director, Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena.

With the continued threat of the ongoing pandemic through the surge of infections caused by the omicron variant, the Institute opted to have a virtual celebration to ensure the safety of the public.

“Ngunit kahit pa virtual ang ating pagdiriwang, ito ay hindi isang “usual” o pangkaraniwang celebration,” Dir. Decena emphasized.

The first part kickstarted the series of events with the DOST-TAPI Day for employees.

Subsequently, the second part will unravel the DOST-TAPI milestones and accomplishments with the launching of new programs on 31 March.

This will also feature the DOST-TAPI roadmap for the coming years to truly show DOST-TAPI’s chosen direction and vision as a premier hub for technology transfer and commercialization.

Lastly, it will bring recognition to institutional partners and employees who have delivered outstanding performance in the previous year.

“We are very excited for what is in-store in the coming years, moving to the future, while unraveling one-by-one the rise of DOST-TAPI, and showing what DOST-TAPI is truly capable of,” Dir. Decena added.

DOST-TAPI continues to be a partner among inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs with its unique programs which offer concept prototyping, intellectual property protection, technology development, venture financing, and promotion.

DOST Undersecretary for R&D, Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, gives her inspirational message during the first part of Unraveling the RISE of DOST-TAPI on 31 January 2022

For 35 years, the Institute has supported major key players in the innovation ecosystem and has put into market science-based products and technologies for the Filipino people.

“Fast forward to today, thirty-five years after DOST-TAPI’s foundation has been laid upon us, the Institute is one of the most significant institutions in creating an effective innovation ecosystem,” said DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development (R&D) Rowena Cristina L. Guevara.
