Attendees to the country’s S&T week double this year

Mall of Asia, Pasay City – With the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) about to close tomorrow, the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) recorded 88% increase in the number of attendees compared to last year here at the SMX Convention today.

TAPI views this as a reflection of the increased awareness of the students in science and technology. Ms. Emilie S. Capellan, chair of TAPI’s Committee on Registration, expressed that this might be due to the massive promotion of the event including print, television, radio and social networking websites. Ms. Nora P. Gumia, Division Chief of the TAPI’s Technology Information and Promotion, attributed this to the promotion done by the Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), another DOST agency, which also scheduled the interviews of DOST officials.

“This success is due to the contributing efforts of all DOST agencies,” Ms. Gumia added. “This was also influenced by the outcome-based approach which assigned DOST agencies to lead in inviting their stakeholders, beneficiaries, and other clients,” Ms. Gumia also stated.   Ms. Capellan also shared that DOST agencies employees also helped in the invitation, such as their Adopt-a-School programs.

The exhibits will be open until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, July 28, which showcase the “DOST 8 Outcomes”, categorized into agricultural productivity, enterprise development, industry competitiveness, business process management, e-governance, quality healthcare, education, and disaster preparedness.
