DOST-TAPI celebrates with senior HS students for STEM

The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) participated in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Expo 2018 on 10-11 March 2018 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Aiming to provide scientific solutions to societal problems, the STEM Expo became a venue for DOST-TAPI to bring into light the Institute’s programs for students such as the DOST-Academe Technology-Based Enterprise Development (DATBED) Program and Invent School Program (ISP).

DATBED develops entrepreneurial competencies among students by supporting new income-generating projects that have high market potential and technical viability when commercialized.

Likewise, the ISP serves as a platform for the youth to awaken their true ingenuity by stimulating their interest in creativity and inventiveness though a seminar-workshop.

Hosted by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Club (PSYSC), the two-day expo showcased the innovativeness of young Filipino scientists and researchers particularly senior high school students, by participating in competitions and exhibits in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The expo’s theme, “Spurring Ideation, Innovating the Nation,” has showed the progress of the Filipino youth in tackling and presenting groundbreaking ideas that is at par with the global scientific community standards.

The competition is composed of categories on market-oriented products, investigatory researches, robotics, science journalism, and science film.

The expo also featured talks and seminars from prestigious professionals from the STEM industry.
