Taguig City – Innovations born from Filipino ingenuity are getting their well-deserved spotlight through the Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNICOM) Program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) implemented by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI).
In December 2017, nine (9) new technologies from state universities and colleges, start-ups, and local research and development institutes were approved for funding under TECHNICOM, with the total grant amounting to almost 35 million pesos.

Though this government assistance, technologies are expected to be piloted and optimized for commercial production with their performances validated and tested by existing industry and regulatory standards.
“Through TECHNICOM, we are more than happy to assist researchers and innovators get necessary funding to help push technologies to the market, all for the benefit of the Filipinos and the country,” said Nora P. Gumia, Chief Program Manager of TECHNICOM.
These technologies which can help contribute to economic growth are expected to be launched in the market in 2018 and beyond.
For 2017, the Program was able to provide 54-million-peso-worth of grant helping local innovations cross the research and development phase and leap towards technology transfer and commercialization.
