DOST-TAPI paints the town purple for National Women’s Month


The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) joined the “Purple Thursday” activity of Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in celebration of the 2018 National Women’s Month.

The DOST-TAPI is one in the celebration of the National Women’s Month on 09 March 2018

The celebration aims to advance women’s rights and gender equality, and to avoid gender-based violence and discrimination against women.

Every March, the PCW champions the National Women’s Month as part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day (IWD).

The celebration is in pursuant to Proclamation 224 and 227 in 1988, and Republic Act 6949 declaring 08 March of every year as National Women’s Day.

The theme, “We Make Change Work for Women,” which will be used from 2017 to 2022, highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development.

Subsequently, “Change” is an acronym which stands for Compassionate and Harmonized Actions and Networks for Gender Equality.

“The Institute has organized numerous activity to promote women’s rights and gender equality for years now. The most recent of which are the film showing of Walang Rape sa Bontoc, seminar on anti-violence against women and children, and training on women in leadership development,” said Lourdes C. Palileo, Chief of Human Resource Development of DOST-TAPI.

Moreover, the promotion of gender-sensitivity consciousness can lead to better productivity, better delivery of the Institute’s programs and services to stakeholders, +and improved overall working environment.
