The Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) launched its 2025 Call for Invention, Innovation, and Technopreneurship Proposals during the “Dito sa Lunduyan” event on October 25, 2024. The call re-introduces three DOST-TAPI programs to support various stakeholders' entrepreneurial journeys.

This year’s theme, “Together, To Get There with DOST-TAPI,” emphasizes the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving venture success.  Building on the success of last year’s Further Forward Campaign, the 2025 call explicitly invites submissions for the GALING Program, reflecting DOST-TAPI’s commitment to inclusivity and empowering individual inventors. GALING program grantees were recognized as innovation champions during the Lunduyan 2024 event.

DOST-TAPI has a long history of supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the Philippines. Through its various programs, the institute has helped countless innovators bring their ideas to life and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

This year’s call is an invitation to aspiring innovators to continue their journey and leverage the support of DOST-TAPI’s funding programs. DOST-TAPI’s three programs offer tailored support to a wide range of innovators, from individual inventors to established businesses:

Grants and Assistance to Leverage Innovations for National Growth (GALING) Program provides Php 350,000 to Php 500,000 to support developing and improving innovative prototypes, depending on the technology area. Individual inventors with at least one active filed intellectual property (IP) application and a working prototype are eligible to apply. Please read here to learn more about the GALING Program and its guidelines.

Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNiCOM) Program accelerates the commercialization of R&D results by providing pre-commercialization funding and connecting entrepreneurs with DOST-TAPI’s technology and innovation support services.  For 2025, the funding threshold of DOST-TAPI for TECHNiCOM has increased from PHP 3 million to PHP 5 million.  Proposals exceeding PHP 5 million will require approval from the TECHNiCOM Program Advisory Committee.  TECHNiCOM is open to startups, research and development institutions (RDIs), and academic institutions. Please read here to learn more about the TECHNiCOM Program and its guidelines.

The LANDBANK-TAPI Innovation and Technology (I-Tech) Lending Program offers particular loans to Filipino inventors to commercialize their patented inventions.  This program, authorized by Republic Act No. 7459, combines financial support from LBP with the Invention Guarantee Fund (IGF).  For 2025, the I-Tech program offers zero-interest loans with no cap on the amount of financial assistance.  However, all loan applications will still undergo a thorough evaluation by LANDBANK. DOST-TAPI Prioritizes Intellectual Property Protection

DOST-TAPI recognizes the importance of intellectual property rights and encourages inventors to protect their innovations.  Even if you still need to file an IP application, you can submit a proposal to the GALING Program.  DOST-TAPI's patent agents are ready to assist you in IP filing while simultaneously completing documentary requirements.

Take the first step: Submit your Draft Proposals NOW.

DOST-TAPI is currently conducting its KNowmad Virtual Call Conference, where interested applicants can learn more about the programs and quickly ask queries!  DOST-TAPI will hold its last virtual call conference this year on 11 and 13 December 2024.  Tune in to DOST-TAPI’s Facebook page for the Zoom registration links.

Prospective innovators can begin their journey by submitting draft proposals using this registration link.  Proposals with complete documentary requirements will still be pre-assessed for further development.  Applicants can refine their submissions into full-blown proposals through virtual and face-to-face mini-write shop caravans in select locations nationwide.
