Coinciding with the Yuletide season, DOST-TAPI's TECHNiCOM Program celebrated its accomplishments and honored its beneficiaries as it ended its 8-year run with a Week-long Accomplishments and Culminating Activity of Special Projects (WACAS).

The Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNiCOM) program ended its status as a Special Project of DOST on the 31st of December 2021 after its transfer to DOST-TAPI in 2013.

To recognize the funded projects’ successes, nine (9) outstanding TECHNiCOM-funded innovations were nominated in three different categories for the 2021 edition of the Gawad TECHNiCOM, the award-giving activity of the program held on December 20 at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion, Taguig City.

With the wide array of applications that the portfolio of TECHNiCOM has to offer, the awards were clustered into three: Gawad DAGTA for agriculture, aquaculture, forest product derivatives and innovations, Gawad DAGITAB for industry, energy, information, and communication technologies, and Gawad DAGISIK for health and food security.

The event was inspired by the words of Atty. Decena, DOST-TAPI’s new Director, and was given emphasis by the DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development, Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara.

“Kung walang TECHNiCOM wala pong WACAS and I would like to end my talk with the words of Mark Twain 'The two most important days of your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.' Marami pong salamat,”said DOST Undersecretary Rowena Cristina L. Guevara.
