BICUTAN, TAGUIG – Department of Science and Technology-Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) and the Philippine Retirement Authority conducted a significant signing of a Memorandum of Understanding last April 4, 2023.

The momentous event was attended by a delegation from PRA, composed of Department Manager Mr. Orlando H. Habitan, Division Chief Atty. Jerome Carlo Castro, Atty. Ruela Dela Peña, and Mr. Alfredo John Lopez.

DOST-TAPI Director, Atty. Marion Ivy Decena, in her welcome remarks emphasized the timeliness of the signing of MOU and her hopes for DOST-TAPI to work on more concrete output with the help of PRA’s pool of experts for possible technical evaluations.

The primary goal of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is to foster government cooperation in the development of industries by tapping into the knowledge and expertise of our retired foreign members through the implementation of the Brain Gain Program.

By doing so, our foreign retiree-members can actively contribute to the advancement of the nation, while simultaneously enjoying the benefits of the Philippine Retirement Program during their well-deserved retirement years.

Overall, this partnership signifies a commitment in enhancing the role of science and technology in our nation's development, providing valuable resources for industry growth, and strengthening our economy.

 In the signing meeting, Atty. Israel Jacob Zaragoza, head of TAPI Legal Unit highlighted the scope of cooperation and responsibilities for both parties, such as providing technical assistance and conducting joint promotional activities.

Together, DOST-TAPI and PRA will embark on a mission to create opportunities for technology transfer, capacity building, mentoring, and training. By pooling our resources and expertise, it is aimed to encourage the adoption of locally developed technologies in various industries, propelling our nation towards a brighter and more prosperous future.
