Mr. Daniel A. Camacho, CEO of Greenway Toilet Solutions explains the Green Eco-Toilet System to the participants
The recently concluded 2017 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) Celebration organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) highlighted some of the most ground-breaking Filipino inventions on 11-15 July 2017 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
In the pursuit of bringing “Science for the People”, inventors exhibited their products and technologies in agriculture, health, and environment, to name a few.
The event became a venue in soliciting potential networking and camaraderie between the inventors and the science community.
“The NSTW provides inventors a common ground in displaying their technologies especially startup companies like us and in meeting potential partners who can help us grow in the market,” Mr. Stephen L. Larcia, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Hiraya Technology Solutions, Inc. said.
R-TAP, an advanced pressure management system that optimizes pump operation, is a DOST-TAPI-assisted technology previously under the Industry-Based Invention Development (IBID) Program for the fabrication of the industrial grade of R-TAP deployed in Teresa Water Works, Angles, Pampanga and currently under the Technology Innovation for Commercialization (TECHNICOM) Program for the enhancement of the prototype and market readiness of R-TAP.
Moreover, the technology helps water utilities significantly reduce water loss and power consumption especially in the light of climate change including the regular weather phenomena such as El Niño.
“It is our very first time to participate in the NSTW and inquiries from our stakeholders and possible clients are pouring,” Larcia added.
Filipino inventors play a very huge role in pushing the science and technology culture in the Philippines as they keep the very foundation of innovative and emerging attitude alive.
“We have received intentions of purchasing our technology for the past week now and the response from the public is truly overwhelming,” Mr. Rafael Camacho, son of the CEO of Greenway Toilet Solutions.
The Green Eco-Toilet System is a conversation system specifically relevant to the “pail and dipper” pouring system of the Filipino culture as the water used for showering is reused for toilet flushing.
The technology earned First Prize in the DOST-TAPI’s 2016 National Invention Contest and Exhibit (NICE) for the Utility Model Category on 28-31 July 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
“The technology not only helps households reduce water expenses but also helps in conserving and preserving our environment,” Camacho added.
As a culmination of the showcase of Filipino inventions, a one-day inventors’ forum was held on 15 July 2017 at the Joya Room to create a dialogue among stakeholders.
