Ready-to-eat (RTE) food technologies developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will take center stage as they find home for their commercialization at the Technology Transfer Forum on the DOST RTE Food Technologies on 19 July 2021 via online.

These food technologies were developed as an alternative solution to the challenges of providing food during disaster situations including the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Brown Rice Bar, developed by DOST-FNRI, is one of the technologies that is featured on the Technology Transfer Forum on DOST RTE Food Technologies on 19 July 2021 online

Technologies to be featured were developed by the research and development institutes of the DOST, such as the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) and Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) as well as the DOST Regional Offices.

Organized by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (DOST-TAPI) the technology transfer forum will serve as a form of an information drive and dialogue among stakeholders.

It will talk about the experiences of the Department in developing RTE food technologies and showcase these to possible adopters and investors as well as, the necessary steps on how to license these food technologies will be tackled.

Previous beneficiaries and partners of the food technologies will provide testimonials on how these technologies have helped them change the course of their business by bringing in profit or expansion.

Lastly, the forum will introduce the participants to the packaging programs and services of DOST-ITDI’s Packaging Center.

“We are excited to hold this forum and find partner adopters and investors in capitalizing our developed RTE food technologies through commercialization for the Filipinos to benefit from,” said Atty. Marion Ivy D. Decena, Officer-in-Charge of DOST-TAPI.

This forum continues the previous efforts of the Department through DOST-TAPI for the successful adoptions of technologies that contribute to economic development.
