Description:

The Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) is a nationwide activity conducted by the Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) in different regions to recognize the indispensability of the Filipino inventors in the Philippine society and in the landscape of national economic development. The Regional Invention Contest (RIC) shall encourage inventors to utilize their innovativeness through competition and with prizes to look out for. RIC serves as the qualifying round for the National Invention Contest, pursuant to Section 4 of the Republic Act (RA) No. 7459 also known as “Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines”. 

For CY 2023, the competition shall be conducted through clusters instead of per region or ClusteRICE. The five (5) Clusters shall be as follows:

1. National Capital Region (for Cities and Municipalities within the NCR);
2. Southern Luzon (for Region IV-A, IV-B and V);
3. Northern Luzon (for Region I, II, III and CAR);
4. Visayas (for Region VI, VII and VIII); and
5. Mindanao (for Region IX, X, XI, XII and XIII).
