The Philippine Delegation immersed themselves in the rich environment of Silicon Valley, surrounded by technology industry prime-movers and giants. Among the trends discussed at the event, the topic of A.I. was one of the topics most focused during the showcase and forums at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 on January 9-12, 2024.

The Philippine Delegation alongside the Department of Science Technology (DOST) attended multiple roundtable sessions at the CES 2024 which heavily featured the future and implications of AI technology’s impact to the tech industry. Some topics were about “How AI-Powered Strategies can Transform the Mobility Experience.”, and “Bringing the Limitless Potential of AI Everywhere.”

The sessions provided insight information for benchmarking and learning of the team regarding the future and utilization of AI-driven technology. It was noted that although smart home integration and household assistance was one of the widely focused applications of the technology, further development in other areas to aid professions were also explored.

Opinions towards AI remain mixed, that is why the CES 2024 offered a stage to highlight the reality of the technology’s progress. The delegation expressed appreciation in the perceived value of their learnings towards AI, revealing their excitement to relay the information in the Philippines.

1. “How AI-Powered Strategies can Transform the Mobility Experience.”

The roundtable discussion centered on how using AI-powered strategies could lead to significant changes in the automotive and transportation sector. Randy Miller, an industry expert from EY, led the conversation along with Constantin M. Gall, Sabine Scheunert, and Damian Barnett, who shared insights into the potential disruptions and opportunities AI might bring to the industry.

2. “Technology and AI Building a Sustainable, Secure, Superior Future”

The panel discussion among the global strategists Ketan Patel, Walton Stinson, and Glenn Gaffney delved into the transformative effects of technology and AI in tackling our major challenges and shaping a better future. The "Force for Good: Technology Driving the Transition to a Superior Future" report serves as valuable strategic advice for leaders curious about what lies ahead.

3. “How people interact with our devices in the age of AI”

During a keynote session featuring Qualcomm, CEO Cristiano Amon joined Liz Claman from Fox Business Network to discuss the future of device interaction in the era of AI. As we enter the age of generative AI, the integration of on-device generative AI holds immense potential to revolutionize our interactions with technology. By running AI continuously on devices, we can anticipate a user experience that is more natural, intuitive, personalized, and secure, offering enhanced immediacy and privacy.

4. “Innovation Policy Summit”

Amidst a backdrop of global uncertainty and rapid technological progress, key stakeholders expressed optimism about regulatory frameworks aimed at fostering technology innovation, particularly in AI.

At the Innovation Policy Summit, leading innovators and policymakers gathered to deliberate on pressing tech policy issues, spanning privacy, health innovation, trade policy, competition, artificial intelligence, and self-driving vehicles. Panelists from industry, regulatory affairs, and the US Senate Committee on Finance discussed the pivotal role of legislation and regulation in shaping advancements, access, and outcomes in both the US and developing markets.

5. “Bringing the Limitless Potential of AI Everywhere.”

Representatives from Intel Corporation, Ulta Beauty, Iterate.ai, and Accenture explored their utilization of cutting-edge technologies to harness the potential of AI across various platforms, from cloud to edge computing, and demonstrated a multi-modal GenAI prototype.

The session provided valuable insight inside the real-life experience of utilizing AI in varying applications.

 

CES 2024, with its branding "ALL ON," showcases AI-driven innovations spanning from futuristic car technologies to healthcare transformations. With a focus on AI's impact, the expo offers a glimpse into how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of commerce, healthcare, and everyday life.

Armed with insights from benchmarking business missions, the Philippine delegation is set to leverage emerging AI tools to enhance existing systems. The delegates acknowledge the ethical implications of AI applications, emphasizing responsible development as a pivotal aspect of their approach to AI implementation.
