Ang Pilipinas ay itinuturing na hotspot ng mga natural na kalamidad. Ayon sa World Risk Report noong taong 2018, ang bansa ay pangatlo sa tala ng may pinakamataas na ‘disaster risk index’ sa buong mundo dahil sa lokasyon nitong lapitin ng mga lindol, bagyo, at iba pang kalamidad.

Sa panahon ng sakuna, kailangan ng mga Pilipino hindi lamang ng proteksyon at masisilungan, maging pagkaing ligtas para sa nangangalam na sikmura. Kaya naman, inihahandog ng Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) ng Kagawaran ng Agham at Teknolohiya ang Ready-to-Eat o RTE Arroz Caldo. Ito ay parte ng Pack of Hope, isang proyekto ng DOST-ITDI na naglalayong maghatid ng agarang relief foods sa mga Pilipinong nasalanta ng kalamidad.

For the second time, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and SM Supermalls collaborated to bring a series of exhibits that showcase the products and results of research and development of the Department and partner agencies.

Dubbed as Science for the People in SM Supermalls, the event is a follow-up activity of the “DOST at 60 in SM Supermalls” during the 60th anniversary of both DOST and SM in 2018.
